Marketing Coordinator

The basic function of the Marketing Coordinator at Colorado Symphony Association is to implement and ensure timely delivery of a variety of marketing and sales strategies. The Marketing Coordinator must be a strong strategic thinker who can oversee multiple projects simultaneously, be detail-oriented, possess some design skills, and have clear and effective writing and verbal communications skills. This is a full-time position that requires some nights and weekends.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the website has updated and accurate concert and promotional information
  • Implement email marketing campaigns with departmental input
  • Assist in copywriting, design, and editing of direct mail and print ads
  • Responsible for timely implementation of single ticket marketing campaigns, including, but not limited to, delivery of direct mail, placement of print ads, production and placement of radio ads
  • Coordinate materials for the subscription campaign, such as invoicing, letters, inserts, etc., for both renewals and acquisitions
  • Manage invoice expense coding as directed by Director of Marketing & Sales following proper budget documentation procedures
  • Update and oversee the organization’s social media applications, including Facebook, Twitter, and others
  • Coordinate all outside requests for ticket donations with the box office and development team
  • Provide back up on Tessitura promotion programming
  • Provide box office back up assistance as needed
  • Participate in concert duty assignments
  • Other duties as assigned

Work Requirements and Qualifications

            1.   Education:  Bachelor’s degree preferred.  GED or HS diploma required.  
                                   
            2.   Experience:  Three to five years experience in a marketing and/or sales position. Experience in customer service and/or sales preferred. Prior experience with Tessitura Ticketing System a plus.     

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Requires strong computer skills, 10-key, typing, and phone skills.  Strong skills in: project management, customer service and salesmanship as well as outstanding written and verbal communication and analytical skills. Skills also required in design. An ability to problem-solve and think quickly on one’s feet and deal with a variety of different personalities and situations while conducting duties in a positive, professional manner in the best interest of the Colorado Symphony while maintaining excellent customer service and implementing sales initiatives.

Successful candidates will have a record of success in completing goals on-time and be flexible, adaptable and comfortable working in an ever-changing environment, offer the ability to multi-task and simultaneously manage several projects and to participate in group meetings.
            4.   Equipment to be Used:  Standard office environment including phone, computer and printers, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe design software.   Currently the Colorado Symphony uses Tessitura ticketing platform.

            5.   Physical Demands:  Ability to spend up to two hours on your feet with no break and some occasional lifting of 25+ pounds.

Staff Accountant

Staff accountant will provide a variety of accounting and clerical duties under general supervision, in order to facilitate the work and goals of Colorado Symphony Association

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Interact with each employee of the CSA in a cooperative manner and treat each other with respect.  All communication, whether internal or external, is conducted in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Examines and verifies data, distributes and posts same to proper accounts.
  • Maintains cash books, daily journals and ledgers including, accounts payable, payroll checks works, with other staff on accounts receivable.
  • Processes accounts payable which includes processing incoming invoices, data entry, and obtaining appropriate approvals.
  • Weekly check runs.
  • Responding to vendor inquiries and resolving outstanding issues.
  • Bi-weekly processing of payroll and interfacing with payroll service provider on annual reporting or other related payroll activities.
  • Assist with various audits throughout the year.
  • Reconciles and balances assigned general ledger accounts.
  • Monthly bank reconciliation.
  • Verifies, allocates, and posts details of business transactions to appropriate accounts.
  • Proper filing of all financial and related information.
  • Traces and adjusts errors.
  • Processes mail and administrative activities assigned.
  • Assists with facility administration.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preparator

The Denver Museum of Nature & Science is seeking a Preparator to support and broaden the scope of the Schlessman Family Earth Sciences Laboratory (ES Lab). The ES Lab is inside the museum's Prehistoric Journey exhibit, and supports the research, curation and outreach efforts of the Museum and staff in the Department of Earth Sciences (DES).

The Preparator will provide technical expertise on aspects of Earth Science specimen preparation at the highest professional standards based on the research directions of the department. The ES Lab focuses on the preparation of paleontological and geological specimens and supports the fieldwork, research and collections management of four curators, two collection managers, and two preparators. Ideal candidates will have experience in all fields of fossil preparation and in geological techniques such as thin section and rock preparation. The new Preparator will conduct outreach by training and supervising volunteers in preparation techniques while also developing, fostering and maintaining outreach with the public via the articulation of the ES Lab with the Prehistoric Journey exhibit. Although research is not required, it or Earth Science-related professional development are encouraged and may comprise up to 10% of the position.  

The new Preparator will work closely with the Museum's existing Preparator and Laboratory Manager, acting as a team to run the Earth Sciences laboratory. The laboratory is open 364 days per year - and thus weekend and night hours are required of Preparators. The lab has a dedicated core of more than70 volunteers and a budget that supports maintenance and improvement of the lab and its facilities. The Museum has funds to support professional development of Preparator expertise. The position will involve supervising, training, and working with volunteers, including taking volunteers into the field in support of their or curators’ scholarly research.

The Denver Museum is an exciting place to work with a diverse staff; the Department of Earth Sciences has staff with expertise in geology, paleobotany, invertebrate paleontology and vertebrate paleontology, and an active volunteer and research associate corps with an even broader range of expertise. Masters degree in the geological or paleontological sciences or museum studies preferred, however, BS or BA in a Science field is required, preferably in an Earth Science or Biological field. Minimum of 1 year experience in some aspect of specimen preparation is required. Minimum of one year demonstrated experience with management of plans, budgets, and personnel is recommended. Museum experience of at least two years is preferred.

Education Director

Bluff Lake Nature Center is seeking qualified applicants for the Education Director position.

The Education Director oversees all aspects of the BLNC Education Program including curriculum design, program development, marketing, scheduling and school and agency partnerships. The Education Director is responsible for supervising Education staff and volunteers as well overseeing the program budget. This position also includes an ambitious teaching schedule in the field and in the classroom. The Education Director is ultimately responsible for reporting on all program numbers including assessment results, attendance and transportation dollars.

Accounting Manager

Basic Function: To ensure the integrity of financial reports, analyze and summarize the financial results of Colorado Symphony Association.  The Accounting Manager manages CSA’s accounting, financial, HR and benefits functions.  Resolves daily operating problems that impact the CSA financially and alerts senior management.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages the month-end accounting process. Reconciles general ledger accounts. Determines accruals. Understands ticketing system (Tessitura) and how it relates to the general ledger. Analyzes details researching discrepancies. Determines reasons for significant variances.
  • Prepares financial statements and other management reports.  Develops and maintains meaningful and professionally prepared managerial reports.  Assists the Chief Financial Officer to effectively communicate financial information.
  • Assists in preparation budget spreadsheets.  Is a resource for managers, grant writer and the Chief Financial Officer in the budget preparation and reporting processes.  Provides financial information for grant applications.
  • Maintain and implement appropriate accounting processes and internal controls over accounting functions company wide.  Ensures staff compliance with accounting and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates all audits including the preparation of audit lead schedules and other work papers.
  • Coordinates the preparation of tax returns and charitable solicitation registration.
  • Prepares financial reports, applications and surveys for organizations such as SCFD, BMI, ASCAP, League of American Orchestras, and MSEC.
  • Prepares monthly Facility Development Admissions (seat tax) tax returns.
  • Back-up support on processing incoming mail, outgoing mail and deposit process. 
  • Reviews biweekly payroll. Processes payroll related disbursements (e.g., retirement contributions, union disbursements, 403(b) payments). Administers employee benefits plans.
  • Manages human resources function, including hiring, orientation, performance evaluation system, benefits meetings, open enrollment period and communication with benefit consultants and insurance carriers.
  • Processes special project as assigned from time-to-time.
  • Ensures strong customer service focus towards internal and external constitutes.

Museo de las Americas Development Intern

This is an opportunity for a college level student or recent graduate to be an active member of the Museo de las Americas non-profit development department, and gain experience in a variety of development areas including corporate sponsorship, foundation research, individual giving and grant writing. This is an excellent opportunity to learn how a development department works in a museum environment.

The Development Intern will:
- Research prospects to identify new corporate, foundation and individual donors
- Draft letters of inquiry to ascertain the viability of funding relationships and assist in preparing grant proposals
 -Draft annual reports to foundation funders

Student Intern

This position exists to provide clerical and administrative support for the Colorado Creative Industries. Supervised by the Program Administrator, the student assistant will help as needed with basic word processing, data entry, filing and other administrative tasks as assigned. Assisting with conference planning, data entry, mass mailings and other general administrative duties.

Ideal candidates will be students who are pursuing a degree in arts or arts administration, communications, journalism, or public affairs and have outstanding writing skills and strong computer skills.

Minimum qualifications required include strong communication and writing skills, experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and previous experience working in an office environment. The ideal candidate will also have an interest in the arts.

Curator of Vertebrate Paleontology

The Denver Museum of Nature & Science seeks a new curator in the Department of Earth Sciences to grow its scholarship in the area of vertebrate paleontology, to curate and expand its North American fossil collections, and to help inspire public understanding of and involvement in science both on a local and national level. The ideal candidate’s scholarship will involve field-based research on dinosaurs. Successful candidates will have an outstanding research program focused in western North America with an established track record of publication and funding. The successful candidate will be a phenomenal public speaker, and will have an ability to effectively engage the general public and media. 

The Denver Museum is an exciting place to do science with an active scientific staff of 16 curators in anthropology, zoology, space sciences, health sciences and earth sciences. The Department of Earth Sciences research focuses primarily on paleontology, paleoecology, paleoclimatology, and geology of the Rocky Mountain region. It has existing paleontological expertise in invertebrate and mammalian paleontology and paleobotany. The vertebrate paleontology collection consists mainly of North American fossils including Cenozoic mammals and other vertebrates, Jurassic and Cretaceous dinosaurs, and Cretaceous seaway fish and reptiles. The Department has a fully staffed preparation laboratory that operates 364 days per year and a full-time collections manager. Opportunities also exist to collaborate with curators, educators, and exhibit developers across a range of scientific disciplines. A Ph.D. in related discipline is required at the start of the position, and postdoctoral experience is recommended. The starting date of the position is June 1, 2011.

Director of Research & Conservation

This position will be filled by a strong and energetic leader who will help their team at the Denver Botanic Gardens evolve into the next phase of regional and national import in the documentation and preservation of the Southern Rocky Mountain flora.  Candidate must have strong fundraising and management background as well as the ability to communicate scientific ideas to the general public.  Preference will be given to candidates with research programs in invasive species, restoration, mycology, taxonomy, plant pathology or urban ecology.

Qualifications: 
Master's degree required, Doctoral degree (Ph. D.) preferred  in plant conservation biology or equivalent in relative field and interest in developing classes projects related to the conservation of natural ecosystems within our region; or minimum 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: 
Experience teaching at a college level, developing plant conservation-related courses and research projects, acquiring funding for research projects and the management of personnel and budgets.
